Superintendent's Message to the Community 20155814360840_image.jpg
It is my honor and pleasure to serve as the North Royalton City School District’s superintendent. Collaborating with the educators, staff, students, and community has been very rewarding for me and I remain dedicated to assuring a quality education for every child in our community.

Living in the community, as well as being a parent of a daughter in the district and two daughters who are alum, gives me a perspective of the needs and challenges that families face each and every day. It is my goal to keep the open lines of communication and the collaborative environment that we have established going strong.

On May 2, 2017, our community overwhelming approved a bond issue to build and renovate our existing buildings. A new elementary school will be constructed on the southwest corner of State Road and Valley Parkway to house the district's preschool through fourth grade students. A new 100,000 sq. ft. section of the high school will be constructed to replace the 1950 and 1960s section, with renovations being done to the 1970 and 1980s sections. In addition, renovation of the middle school also will be completed. It is anticipated that the 2017-2018 school year will be spent in engaging constituents in the design of the facilities with construction anticipated to begin in the summer and fall of 2018. I want to thank the community for their support and trust. Please take some time to browse our website to stay up to date on the progress of the projects at http://www.northroyaltonsd.org/facilitiesupdate.aspx.

Even with the passage of the bond issue, there is always the issue of the state budget and its impact on our district. In North Royalton, we have historically offered the finest quality education while at the same time being fiscally responsible to the taxpayers. We will continue to make sure that while operating on one of the lowest per pupil expenditures in the county, our students will receive the same quality education that the communities of North Royalton and Broadview Heights have come to expect.

If you have any questions or are in need of assistance, please contact me directly at 440-237-8800 or Cheryl Carcioppolo, Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent, at 440-582-9031.

Sincerely,

Greg Gurka
