Announcing Reflections 2014-2015

“The World Would Be a Better Place If . . . .”

Here is a great opportunity for your students to flex their creative muscle. By writing creative pieces around this theme and entering the PTA Reflections program they will become eligible to win fantastic prizes courtesy of NRHS PTA and the possibility of going on the compete against other talented students from across the state.

Submission deadline is Friday, December 5th. Winner will be notified by December 10th. Only students going on to the state level need to fill out the entry form that will be supplied by NRHS PTA.

Literature Guidelines: Description: Fiction or non-fiction, prose, poetry, drama, song and/or lyrics. Length: not to exceed 2,000 words . Please make sure students clearly provide their name on the back of their work.

Senior Exit Interview Day - Thursday, October 16, 2014

Senior Exit Interview Day is Thursday, October 16, 2014

Use the information below to help you plan your day.

Grade 12
Seniors will be in the building for the Senior Exit Interview during their individually scheduled times.

Grade 9, 10 and 11
There will be no scheduled classes for grades 9, 10 and 11. Students are encouraged to use this time to do career exploration. Some examples include: Job Shadow, College Visit or an Online Career Assessment.

For the online career activity, students should login to their Naviance account and go to the document library. Look for "Online Career Activity."

Other exploration opportunity for 11th and 12th graders
The ASVAB test for any 11th or 12th grader interested in the military will be offered from 7:30 AM-11:00 AM on the day of the Senior Exit Interviews (10/16.) Sign up in the School Counseling Office.

***On Monday, October 6th, all 9th grade students will get registered for Naviance. Parents will receive information on Naviance via email sometime in October. Parents are encouraged to look for the handouts given to the 9th graders on October 6th.

Crystal Starfish Nomination

Nominate a Teacher/Support Staff for the North Royalton City Schools’ Crystal Starfish 1st Semester Award

October 3, 2014 . . . North Royalton City Schools and First Federal of Lakewood are looking for its next Crystal Starfish winners. The recognition program, now in its sixth year, is an opportunity to acknowledge a teacher and support staff member each semester for going over and beyond in their jobs. Nominations come from the community, school parents, students, or fellow teachers/staff of the district.

Nominations can be found at all school buildings as well as on the school website at Nominations are due by November 14. The winner will be announced in December.

The support staff recipient receives the Crystal Starfish Staff Award, a $50 gift certificate to Cleat’s restaurant, and flowers, balloons, and a $50 gift certificate from Independence Flowers & Gifts.

The teacher recipient receives the Crystal Starfish Teacher Award, a $250 grant from First Federal of Lakewood to be used towards professional development, as well as a $50 gift certificate to Cleat’s restaurant, and flowers, balloons, and a $50 gift certificate from Independence Flowers & Gifts.

Late Start/Early Release Bell Schedules

Parents & Students,
Just a quick reminder that North Royalton High School will be implementing seven (7) late start dates in order for teaching staff to collaborate on best practices, curriculum alignment, and continued creation of common assessments. Our first late start date is this Wednesday, September 3. Any students needing bus transportation, our buses will run their normal routes and at their normal times. Students arriving at school prior to first period will be placed in a study hall. The Late Start Bell Schedule is here for reference.


TBT Time: 7:05 - 8:35 (1.5 hours for Teacher Based Teams)

Period 1: 8:45 - 9:25 (40 minutes)
Period 2: 9:29 - 10:09 (40 minutes)
Period 3: 10:13 - 10:53 (40 minutes)
Period 4: 10:57 - 11:24 ( 27 minutes / lunch)
Period 5: 11:28 - 11:37 ( 9 minutes)
Period 6: 11:41 - 12:08 ( 27 minutes / lunch)
Period 7: 12:12 - 12:21 (9 minutes)
Period 8: 12:25 - 12:52 (27 minutes/ lunch)

This schedule will run on the first Wednesday of the month except in November and January. The dates are September 3, 2014; October 1, 2014; December 3, 2014; February 4, 2015; March 4, 2015; April 1, 2015; and May 6, 2015.

In addition, Thursday, September 4 is an Early Release Day for our school district. Students will be released at 1:23 PM. The CVCC buses will run at normal times with the exception that there will be NO MIDDLE SCHOOL BUSES running at 2:50. Students will need transportation home upon their return from CVCC.
