North Royalton City Schools’ Assistant Superintendent Jim Presot Named “Outstanding Business Manager of the Year”
The Ohio Association of School Business Officials (OASBO) has named Jim Presot, assistant superintendent of North Royalton City Schools, the Outstanding Business Manager of the Year. He will formally be recognized at the Ohio School Boards Association Capital Conference on November 16 at the Columbus Convention Center.
“Jim’s service and dedication goes way beyond any job description or time clock,” said Dr. John Kelly, president, North Royalton Board of Education. “He is absolutely the ‘go to’ guy on any issues related to our physical plant or the management of the district operations. He gives this position 150% effort ALL the time.”
Presot will receive a plaque and a $500 scholarship to present to a graduating senior from the North Royalton City Schools. His name will be engraved on a plaque located in the OASBO offices.
“It is an honor to be nominated by individuals from your district and selected from a pool of highly qualified candidates from across the state,” said Ryan Jenkins, OASBO Board President.
Presot exemplifies service to the school system, profession, and the community. He is current member and former treasurer of the North Royalton Educational Foundation, founding and current member of the Stadium Foundation, and worked closely with the Community Engagement Committee. He coordinates the School Business Advisory Council and the Crystal Starfish Recognition Program. In addition, he is a member of the Cuyahoga Valley Career Center’s Vision Eight committee. Presot has developed and led the district’s “Green Team” and even has organized the district’s wellness initiative for employees. He is the chairperson of the Suburban Health Consortium made up of 18 local school districts that combine efforts for the purchase and administration of employee health insurance benefits. He also has worked with the district’s Food Services Director to make positive changes to the food service program, as well as worked with our Personnel Director to co-lead a project called “Project CARE-Model for Service.”
He belongs to numerous professional organizations, has presented at several conferences on a variety of topics, and has served as a mentor for many other school business officials. In addition to being an active member in OASBO, he is a member of the Ohio School Councils Business Advisory Council, NE Ohio School Business Officials Advisory Group, Summit County School Business Officials Advisory Group.
“Jim is a great example of the power of involvement in one’s community as well,” said Greg Gurka, superintendent, North Royalton City Schools. “From helping out with the youth baseball and soccer groups to attending band and choir Booster Club events, these groups know Jim and they also know he truly supports them and the children involved.” Presot is the co-founder of the North Royalton Schools/City Health and Wellness Expo. He is a member of the North Royalton Community Emergency Response Team and works directly with the North Royalton Recreation Director and the Recreation Board on the improvement of school and city owned recreational fields. Presot is also on the Executive Council for the Greater Cleveland Safety Council and has assisted with the Girls on the Run program. “The list goes on and on of his volunteer and community service efforts and the entire Board of Education and administration team and staff wholeheartedly thank Jim for his commitment and dedication to North Royalton City Schools,” said Gurka.
