Curriculum and Instruction

The Office of Curriculum and Instruction oversees curriculum, instruction, assessment and accountability of the District’s educational programs. Current District teaching and learning initiatives include: the use of formative assessments to guide instruction, closing the achievement gap within student sub-groups, providing instructional staff with a systematic method of student assessment analysis and the development of instructional strategies to help all students achieve high levels of learning through high quality teacher professional development.  Additionally, we strive to incorporate STEM learning opportunities for our students through project-based and technology-rich classroom lessons and elective course options.

The Ohio Improvement Process has created a climate of shared vision and leadership for student achievement in conjunction with the District strategic plan. All instruction in the District is aligned with the state academic content standards. Academic Content Standards describe the knowledge and skills that students should attain, often called the “what” of what students should know and be able to do. They indicate the ways of thinking, working, communicating, reasoning and investigating, and important ideas, concepts, issues, and knowledge essential to each subject.
