North Royalton City School District
“We Inspire and Empower Learners"
North Royalton City Schools is ranked as one of the finest school districts in the State of Ohio, serving approximately 4,000 students from the cities of North Royalton and Broadview Heights. The community takes pride in knowing the District is doing its best to prepare children for their future and to be outstanding contributing citizens to our society. There are three schools — North Royalton Elementary School (Preschool - Grade 4), North Royalton Middle School (Grades 5 - 8) and North Royalton High School (Grades 9 - 12).
North Royalton City Schools continues to ensure that while operating with one of the lowest per pupil expenditures in the county, students receive the same quality education that the community has come to expect. The District consistently receives the Auditor of State Award with Distinction for a “clean” financial audit report. This year marks the 28th time the District received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association.
With the passage of a bond issue and a maintenance fund in May 2017, a new elementary school was constructed and opened its doors in August 2021. It is located on the southwest corner of State Road and Valley Parkway. Funds also have been used to renovate the middle school with updated HVAC units and the construction of a new secure main entrance way located on the south side of the building. Progress continues with HVAC and heat pump work, renovating the media center, creating a new STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) room, and reconfiguring the fifth and sixth-grade pod area. The reconfiguration of the seventh and eighth-grade pods is scheduled for next summer. At the high school, the 1970 and 1980s sections have been renovated to house the humanities classrooms (English, social studies and foreign language) and a new 100,000-square-foot STEM wing was built onto the front of the high school. The 1950 and 1960s sections of the high school were demolished in May. There also are renovations being made to the music, art and family and consumer science area, development of the front student parking lot and drives, entry courtyard and new front facade. Construction is scheduled to be completed in December 2021.
With a solid academic base developed at the elementary and middle school levels, students are well prepared to select either a challenging college preparatory and/or a comprehensive career preparatory program when they enter high school. North Royalton High School offers 198 courses, including 15 Advanced Placement courses and 18 Honors classes. The District provides outstanding special education and related services for students with disabilities, as well as career-based education through the Cuyahoga Valley Career Center.
The elementary school provide students many opportunities to expand their knowledge through special interest clubs and leadership programs. Middle school and high school students have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of intramural and interscholastic athletics, as well as a large spectrum of clubs, leadership opportunities, and scholastic achievement organizations.
Parents are encouraged to become actively involved in our schools. There is a PTA at each building. Parents and residents also serve in an advisory capacity through committees such as the Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment Committee; Business Advisory Council; Senior Citizen Advisory Council; Financial Advisory and Audit Committee; and the Community Facilities Advisory Committee. Our Band Boosters, Choir Boosters, and Athletic Boosters have raised thousands of dollars to support the athletic and music programs, as well as supporting our students every time they march out onto the field or appear on a stage.
North Royalton City Schools is dedicated to providing the education students need today to prepare them for the world of tomorrow. With the help and support of our community, we look forward to creating new levels of greatness.
