Welcome From the Principal

Vince Ketterer, Principal
Welcome to Albion Elementary School. You are becoming part of a school community whose focus continues to be reflected in our District’s mission—“To Inspire and Empower Learners”. The faculty and staff provide a positive environment that supports the academic and social learning of our students. They work to create a climate and culture that develops and strengthens a love of learning, responsibility, and citizenship.

You, as parents, are a vital component of this effort. The elementary school years are the time to create a collaborative partnership between home and school. We invite you to take an active role in your child’s learning. It is your presence and interaction with your child’s teacher and classroom that have one of the strongest, positive impacts on learning. Do not hesitate to ask questions or gain information regarding your child’s education.

Please know you are always welcome at Albion. I am excited about the upcoming school year and all that is has to offer for you and your child.

School Profile

Albion Elementary School was constructed in 1955 and officially dedicated on November 11, 1956. Over the years, Albion’s original walls stood firm and welcomed additions to all ends of the building to accommodate the growing needs of the North Royalton community. The grade levels located at Albion changed as well with it being a Jr. High School and a Middle School at one point. In the late 1980’s, Albion housed only grades 4 and 5 for the entire district. In 1996, Albion returned to being a neighborhood elementary school for students in grades K-4.  In 2004, our kindergarteners were moved to the Early Childhood Center and as of this year, have rejoined us. In 2015 Albion was recognized as a "Blue Ribbon" School.

Today, our Albion community of approximately 500 students and 60 certified and classified staff members continues to be child-centered with a focus on student achievement. We have consistently earned an Excellent rating on our building state report card which contributes positively to our district rating of Excellent as well. This is due to the dedication of our staff and the partnership we have with our parents, community, and Board of Education that has supported us for over 50 years.

At Albion, students and faculty are committed to following the Albion Expectations – Be Ready, Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be a Friend. We take pride in the extra level of promoting we do towards responsible citizenship by hosting an extensive Veterans Day celebration each year that our students participate in and that is open to the public. Additionally, our Guidance Counselor continually promotes various community service projects that our children and families embrace whole-heartedly.  We offer opportunities for our students to become involved in extra-curricular activities such as Math Club and Intramural Sports. Leadership positions also exist for children such as Student Council, Conflict Managers, and Safety Patrol.

In addition to our commendations from the Ohio Department of Education for our outstanding academic achievement, Albion has earned other various awards over the years: National Association of Elementary School Principals Honor, Student Council School of Excellence, the Parent Involvement Certification of Excellence, Blue Ribbon School and the Buckeye Best Healthy School Award (3 years – bronze and silver ratings). We have also been recognized for our efforts towards paper recycling since 2005 collecting over 56 tons of paper. We are proud of our accomplishments at Albion and take great pride in what we contribute to the North Royalton community.
