Valley Vista Elementary School was dedicated in 1959. A few years later in 1961, four additional classrooms were added to address our expanding enrollment, then four kindergarten classrooms and an art room were added in 1988. In 1996, our school was transformed from a kindergarten and first grade building into a neighborhood school housing kindergarten through fourth grade. In 2004, our kindergarteners were moved to the Early Childhood Center and as of this year, have rejoined us.
Our fifty-one certified and classified staff members work together with our parents to meet the needs of our 400 students. Our focus on meeting student needs and our high expectations have consistently earned us “Excellence” and “Excellence with Distinction” ratings on our building state report card. In addition, we have earned the following recognitions over the years: the Parent Involvement Certification of Excellence, for the past five years, we have earned the Buckeye Best Healthy School Award (1 bronze, 2 silver and 2 gold), and the National Association of Elementary School Principals Honor for Student Council Excellence.
Our school mascot, Bud E. Bear, reminds us to be Respectful, Responsible and Ready to Learn in all areas of our school. Students are recognized for positive behaviors as a class and as individuals. We develop student leaders through our BH Team, Big Buddies, and Buddy’s Buddies, conflict managers, library helpers and our student council. Our Guidance Counselor and student council expand the students’ “world” as we participate in numerous local and world-wide service projects and philanthropy. Additionally, for the past four years, we have been recognized by the American Heart Association for participating in their “Jump Rope for Heart Program”. Extracurricular activities, such as math club, computer club and intramurals, expand the children’s experiences and are enjoyed by our students.
We have a wonderful school with an abundance of support to develop students into well-rounded, successful adults.
