On Friday, April 25, the North Royalton Elementary School (NRES) cafeteria was filled with laughter, music, and the spirit of service as more than 120 people came together for a memorable Family Service Night. Hosted by the NRES PTA, the event combined fun activities with meaningful opportunities to give back to the community.
From crafting items for local organizations like Rise in Love, the North Royalton Office of Aging, and foster families, to creating toys for animals at the Animal Protective League (APL) and writing notes for active duty service members—everyone found a way to make a difference.
“Family Service Night was another successful example of our community coming together to spread kindness and teach our children the value of service to others,” said committee co-chair Andrea Campagna. The evening was packed with excitement thanks to a 360 Photo Booth, creations by Danimal the Balloon Artist, and face painting. Families also got to experience the joy of music together through lively Music Izz Groovy family sessions.
Students and families helped assemble 144 amazing care packages for young adults aging out of foster care and moving into their first homes. These will be distributed through The Purple Umbrella Task Force, according to committee co-chair Nikki Judson.
In addition, attendees of the event made over 50 dog toys for the Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter while also painting over 70 plant pots with positive messages to be given out to participants at the new North Royalton Senior Center when it opens. Students also helped in painting beautiful rocks to be placed in the gardens at the new center.
“The event was a heartwarming reminder of the power of community and the impact of small acts of kindness,” said Principal Kirk Pavelich. “Thank you to all the volunteers, organizers, and families who made the night such a success.”
