North Royalton City Schools is committed to taking proactive measures to protect the safety of all students and staff members. We have made preparations to deal effectively with emergency situations that could occur in or around the school while classes are in session. While we hope that a natural disaster or other serious incident never occurs, our goal is to be as prepared as possible for any potential emergency. Our priority at all times is to protect all students and staff from harm.
North Royalton City Schools and all school facilities have crisis and safety plans. The plans are designed with the assistance of administrative staff members, as well as local law enforcement, emergency management, and public health officials. Additionally, teachers and community members are involved in the process. The plans are reviewed and updated regularly. This includes procedures to respond to a variety of crisis incidents. School district personnel and students practice drills associated with specific emergencies on a regular basis.

ALICE School Safety Program
ALICE is a school safety program developed to offer additional options for students and staff when dealing with a violent intruder situation. The letters ALICE are an acronym that stands for: Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate. These five components form the basis of the program’s age-appropriate training.
The school district, in partnership with the North Royalton Police Department, implement the ALICE program with staff and students. Age-appropriate training for all District students is based on the ALICE program. This program informs the procedures the District uses for drills that take place in the schools during the school year.
