North Royalton Middle School Sixth Grade Students Participate in First Annual Science Fair
On October 21, the North Royalton Middle School sixth grade science classes came together for the first time to hold a science fair. The science fair was driven completely by the students’ personal interest and a hands-on approach to learning. More than 400 people attended the night of the science fair and despite it not being mandatory, 90% of the students showed up to present their projects.
“The energy was electric in school the day of and continued to be the day after,” said sixth grade science teacher Gina Stabile. “The kids were ecstatic at the turnout and gained confidence in presenting and in themselves.”
Sixth grade science teachers Jessica Connelly, Nick Wysocki and Gina Stabile had begun working on this idea the end of the 2014/2015 school year and met several times over the summer to discuss it. Since the event was such a success, they are thinking about making it an annual event.
