Nick Phillips Named Friend of Education

North Royalton City Schools recognizes Nick Phillips as the 2020-21 Friend of Education. 

This annual award goes to a person or persons who significantly contribute to North Royalton City Schools, help inspire and empower students, and dedicate themselves to making North Royalton and Broadview Heights great places. Phillips is the current president of the North Royalton Alumni Association. Nick constantly strives to make the Alumni Association a relevant organization to promote a connection to North Royalton City Schools. He conducts monthly meetings, fundraising efforts and heads up the association’s leadership team. He is most definitely proud of his alma mater and speaks fondly of his time as a student. 

Phillips is a 1966 graduate of North Royalton High School. He met his wife, Diane, at the high school as well. They have two children and four grandchildren. Phillips is a former North Royalton School Board member and also is a member of the Community Facilities Advisory Committee for the bond issue. “Nick has always been a strong advocate for the North Royalton City Schools as evidenced by his service to the schools and community,” said Superintendent Greg Gurka, North Royalton City Schools. 

“Nick is service-oriented and always giving back to the community with his time, energy and expertise,” said Principal Sean Osborne, North Royalton High School “The District thanks Nick for so many years of dedication to our school community.”
