North Royalton Middle School Science Olympiad Teams Rank Second in Regional Competition

The North Royalton Middle School (NRMS) Science Olympiad Teams competed in the Science Olympiad regional competition on Saturday, March 5 at St. Ignatius High School.  Seven teams competed in the competition.  North Royalton had two teams that competed and they came in second place.

Each team competed in 21 different events. Topics of the events, that tested both knowledge and building skills, included food science, solar system, crime busters, dynamic planets, sounds of music, bridges, mousetraps, ping pong parachute, anatomy and physiology, meteorology, disease, and ornithology.

Science Olympiad is under the direction of Nick Wysocki, Joe Simonek, Lori Kryzwicki and Tricia Cline.

“We are so proud of these students,” said Cline.  “This year has been difficult with canceled practices due to weather and of course, Covid!  These students are dedicated and didn't give up.  We also couldn't have done this well without the help of some dedicated high school students and parent volunteers.”

The state competition on April 9 will be virtual.  The NRMS teams will compete from the middle school.  All build events will be recorded and students will test right from the classrooms.
