North Royalton High School students Fiona Parker and Alex Bottomley have been accepted as a candidate team in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) 2023 Northeast Ohio Student Visionaries of the Year campaign. Each student in Northeast Ohio was nominated by an LLS leadership team and a school administrator or a staff member for their leadership, passion to find a cure for blood cancers, and involvement in the community. Student Visionaries of the Year is the newest LLS campaign where nominated high school student leaders raise money and awareness for the fight against blood cancers such as leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma.
This year’s campaign kicked off on January 27 and culminates at the LLS Grand Finale on March 18. The student who raises the most funds during this seven-week fundraising initiative will receive a $1,250 scholarship. The funds raised benefit the LLS mission to find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
