North Royalton City Schools Report Card from State

September 16, 2022

Dear NoRo Families,

The Ohio Department of Education released the 2022 Ohio School Report Cards. The report cards include five rated components and various report-only data. The components have star ratings ranging from 1-5 with 3 stars indicating that expectations for a district have been met. The 2022 Guide to Ohio School Report Cards provides an overview and explanation of these key components. Districts and schools will not receive overall star ratings this year.

Report cards provide information on the progress of districts and schools in raising achievement and preparing students for the future. The data can be used to guide school improvement and respond to student learning needs. However, Ohio School Report Cards are not the only measure of the success or accomplishments of a school or district. Our district Quality Profile will be available to the community next week, which provides a holistic view of all that we do to provide an outstanding education that inspires and empowers learners beyond what the state report card measures.

We are very proud of our 2022 report card for North Royalton City Schools! This success is due to the collaborative efforts of our talented teaching and support staff together with passionate families who place a great value and emphasis on education.  Below is a summary of our component ratings, with the report card accessible through ODE here.

Achievement (5 Stars) - The Achievement Component measures students academic achievement using each level of performance on Ohio's State Tests.

Progress (4 Stars) - The Progress Component measures the academic performance of students compared to expected growth on Ohio's State Tests.

Gap Closing (5 Stars) - The Gap Closing component shows how well schools are meeting the performance expectations for our students in English language arts, math, and graduation. It also measures how schools are doing in supporting English learners to increase language proficiency, reducing chronic absenteeism for all students, and identifying gifted students and providing gifted services.

Graduation (4 Stars) - The Graduation Component is a measure of the four-year adjusted cohort graduation rate and the five-year adjusted cohort graduation rate.

Early Literacy (3 Stars) - The Early Literacy Component is a measure of reading improvement and proficiency for students in kindergarten through third grade.

College, Career, Workforce, and Military Readiness (Not rated this year) - The College, Career, Workforce, and Military Readiness Component measures how well-prepared Ohio's students are for all future opportunities.
