Layla Cooper is a junior at North Royalton High School currently enrolled in the Medical Administrative Specialist (MAS) program at CVCC, taught by Lisa Clements. She chose the MAS program because of her strong interest in pursuing a career in the medical field after high school. Layla saw this as a great opportunity to try something new—something that could make school more enjoyable while also setting her up for future success. After high school, Layla plans to attend college to become an esthetician, specializing in skincare—a passion she’s had for a long time and a career path she sees as both enjoyable and rewarding.
One of Layla’s favorite experiences in the MAS program has been earning her CPR certification. She found the training both fun and practical, knowing it could make a real difference in an emergency. “I really love the people here,” she shared. “Meeting students from different school districts has been so nice—everyone is friendly, and it’s made me feel more social. The people are honestly the reason I love being here. We’re all working toward similar goals with like-minded mindsets.” Layla has also enjoyed participating in Business Professionals of America (BPA) this year, further expanding her leadership and networking skills.
Outside the classroom, Layla babysits, loves spending time with her friends, and is especially looking forward to sleeping in this summer! Her advice for students considering CVCC is: “Give CVCC a try—but choose a program that aligns with your future goals or interests. I’ve really loved the different environment and all the opportunities to try new things and meet new people.”
