Dear Community,

We recently sent a communication asking for your advocacy on issues in the State of Ohio biennial budget that would negatively impact our District’s finances. Although these issues still made it out of the Conference Committee, Governor Mike DeWine vetoed the most impactful issues we had listed after he signed the bill. We are happy and thankful to see the vetoes made by the Governor.  Several of these items would have caused significant cuts to programming for our students, or the need for us to ask our taxpayers for additional dollars.

The Ohio General Assembly is expected to consider overriding the Governor’s vetoes as early as mid-August or September. If that happens, the harmful provisions could become law—despite the Governor’s opposition and their negative consequences for schools, students, and local taxpayers.

We encourage you to contact your state legislators this summer and ask them not to override these vetoes.

Let them know you support strong, locally governed public schools—and that these vetoes are essential to maintaining educational stability and fairness in Ohio.

We’ll continue to monitor developments closely and provide updates as more information becomes available. In the meantime, please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions or need help contacting your elected officials.

Dear [Representative/Senator] [Last Name],

As a proud member of the[North Royalton/Broadview Heights community and a strong supporter of public education, I am writing to urge you not to override Governor DeWine’s recent vetoes that protect our schools from harmful provisions included in the biennial state budget.

The Governor’s actions reflect the concerns of educators, parents, and taxpayers across Ohio who understand the devastating impact these provisions would have had on our local schools. Without his vetoes, districts like North Royalton City Schools could face significant financial challenges—jeopardizing educational programs, increasing the burden on local taxpayers, and reducing opportunities for our students.

These vetoes preserve the ability of our locally elected school boards to govern effectively, keep vital resources in the classroom, and maintain the quality of education that Ohio families expect and deserve.

I respectfully ask you to honor the Governor’s vetoes and oppose any effort to override them. Our students’ futures and our community’s educational stability depend on it.

Thank you for your service to our district and for your consideration of this important matter.

Sincerely,

[Your Name]
