start with hello

On Thursday, November 6, North Royalton City Schools once again came together to celebrate Start With Hello Day—a district-wide initiative dedicated to fostering kindness, inclusion, and meaningful connection among students, staff, and families.

As part of the celebration, the staff was encouraged to wear their “NoRo Starts With Hello” shirts and take time throughout the day to reach out to others with a simple greeting or act of kindness. Whether it’s saying hello to someone new, sharing a smile, or lending a helping hand, these small gestures play a big role in creating a school community where everyone feels seen, valued, and supported.

Across the district, the initiative has already inspired a variety of creative efforts—such as Hello Buddies, kindness campaigns, and positive visuals and messages displayed throughout school hallways. These activities are helping to build a culture where connection and compassion thrive.

“We are proud of how our students and staff truly care about making everyone feel valued and welcome. Start With Hello is the program, but our school community makes it happen,” said Superintendent Michael Laub. “Safe, engaging environments promote positive cultures where all students have a chance to reach their potential.”

In addition to participating in the day’s activities, staff and students were encouraged to capture photos that showcase connection and kindness across the district and share them on social media, newsletters, or other school communication platforms.

Together, the North Royalton City Schools community continues to lead with kindness—one “hello” at a time.
