North Royalton City Schools honored local veterans through a variety of meaningful activities held district-wide in recognition of Veterans Day. At North Royalton Elementary School, veterans were invited to the building on November 10 and 11 for a special breakfast and a patriotic singing performance by the students. The event provided a memorable opportunity for students to show their appreciation and connect personally with the veterans in attendance.

At North Royalton Middle School, social studies teachers engaged students in lessons and activities centered around the importance of Veterans Day. Students wrote letters to veterans in the North Royalton community and learned about the importance of service through guest speakers. This year, each grade level also created a new display at the front of their pod, coordinated with the help of Student Council. The displays featured photos of veterans submitted by families and the names of loved ones written on red, white, and blue stars. On Veterans Day, students took part in a gallery walk to view the exhibits, reflect on the messages, and honor those who served.

North Royalton High School students also expressed their gratitude by writing letters to School Resource Officer Officer Lexi Jezior, a former Marine, as well as high school technology staff member John Vilevac, who served in the United States Air Force. Their continued dedication to the school community made the recognition even more meaningful for students and staff.

“Veterans Day is a powerful reminder of the courage and commitment shown by the men and women who have protected our freedoms,” said Superintendent Michael Laub. “We are proud of our students and staff for creating meaningful experiences that honor our veterans and help our students understand the significance of their service.”
