Class of 2030 to Begin Course Selection for the 2026–27 School Year

North Royalton Middle School is gearing up for an exciting milestone as the Class of 2030 begins the scheduling process for their transition to North Royalton High School. Over the next several months, eighth graders and their families will receive information, attend presentations, and work directly with teachers and counselors to select courses for their freshman year.

The process begins in the beginning of January when families receive an email outlining highlights of the scheduling timeline and next steps.

Key Dates and Milestones

January 8, 2026

• The 2025–26 High School Course Catalog becomes available online, with the updated 2026–27 catalog coming soon.

• Teachers will complete recommendations in PowerSchool for high school classes. 

January 20–21, 2026

Eighth graders will visit the high school in team groups for the annual HS PAC Presentation and Building Tour, held during combined social studies classes.

  • Jan. 21: Gold Team

January 22, 2026

Families are invited to 8th Grade Parent Night from 7–8 p.m. in the High School Performing Arts Center. A special pre-session will be held at 6 p.m. in the Media Center for parents of students attending parochial or private schools who need additional scheduling support.

January 21 – February 2, 2026

Students and families will review recommendation materials, teacher guidance, and course options. Teachers will speak individually with students about their recommended placements before students begin entering selections.

February 2, 2026

During social studies classes, students will participate in Middle School Scheduling Day, watching a step-by-step instructional video on how to schedule in PowerSchool. High School Assistance Principal Matt Yappel and School Counselor Maria Wolanin will be onsite at the middle school for support throughout the morning. The eighth-grade counselor will have direct access to contact the high school team throughout the week as needed.

February 9, 2026

Any students who still need schedules will be identified, and the middle school counselor will work with teachers and teams to complete all remaining course requests.

June 1, 2026

Final schedule change deadline. All updates must be entered in PowerSchool by this date. Any change that requires a higher-level placement than originally recommended, will need to be discussed with the middle school counselor.
