North Royalton High School’s Key Club is inviting the community to come together for a meaningful evening of fun, food, and philanthropy at its upcoming Key Club Tailgate Fundraiser on Friday, January 31, 2026, from 5–8 p.m. in the NRHS Cafeteria.

The event is being held in honor of John Owen, a former North Royalton High School student who bravely battled Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), a fatal and progressive disorder that causes the gradual loss of muscle function and independence. John’s life, strength, and legacy continue to inspire the NRHS community, and all proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit John Owen’s Adventure, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness and supporting research toward a cure for DMD.

The evening will feature dozens of raffle baskets, including highly anticipated prizes such as a Taylor Swift-themed basket and an autographed photo of Shedeur Sanders, along with many other unique and exciting items. Attendees will also enjoy dinner, and trivia begins at 6:30 p.m., offering additional chances to win prizes.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students, making the event accessible for families, students, staff, and community members alike.

“This event is more than a fundraiser,” said Jacob Mazanek, a student leader from Key Club. “It’s a way for our school and community to honor John Owen’s memory and support a cause that meant so much to him and his family.”
