North Royalton City Schools is sharing an important update for families planning to register a child for kindergarten for the 2026–27 school year.
Recently signed legislation, House Bill 114, changes Ohio’s kindergarten age requirement. Under the new law, school districts must admit any child who turns five years old on or before the first day of school. For North Royalton City Schools, this means children must be five on or before August 20, 2026, to register for kindergarten for the 2026–27 school year.
Kindergarten registration for the 2026–27 school year will begin February 1, 2026, for North Royalton City School District residents whose children meet this updated age requirement.
For the upcoming school year, the district will hold in-person kindergarten registration at the North Royalton High School Community Room, located at 14713 Ridge Road. Registration will take place on:
February 17 and 18, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
February 19, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Families will schedule a specific registration appointment and are asked to bring all required documents at that time. An appointment sign-up link will be available on the Enroll tab of the district website. Families are encouraged to complete all online registration forms prior to their scheduled appointment.
North Royalton City Schools offers two kindergarten program options. Families may choose a half-day, every-day program, or an all-day, every-day program, which is tuition-based.
Half-day sessions are offered:
AM session: 9–11:45 a.m.
PM session: 12:45–3:30 p.m.
Parents may indicate a preference for the morning or afternoon half-day session; however, registration must be completed to guarantee placement preference.
The cost for the all-day, every-day kindergarten option for the 2026–27 school year is $2,800. Families who do not select the all-day option will be enrolled in the half-day program.
Additional information, including required documents and registration links, will be available on the district website as the registration window approaches.
