North Royalton City Schools has been recognized for its outstanding financial stewardship, earning the Auditor of State Award with Distinction following its most recent financial audit.
The audit, conducted by Ohio Auditor of State Keith Faber, resulted in a clean report, reflecting the district’s strong commitment to accuracy, transparency, and accountability in its financial practices. Each year, 4,200 audits of the 6,000 clients statewide are performed by the Ohio Auditor of State’s office.
“This award places North Royalton City Schools in a select group because only less than 4% qualify for the Award with Distinction,” said Tina Ludwig, the Northeast Regional Liaison for the Ohio Auditor of State, who presented Treasurer Biagio Sidoti with the award at the May 28 Board of Education meeting.
“By keeping accurate financial records, governing bodies demonstrate their commitment to efficient, effective, and transparent service,” said Auditor Faber in a press release. “This award honors public entities that have put in the hard work to keep their finances in order.”
The Auditor of State Award with Distinction is presented to local governments and school districts that meet rigorous standards upon completion of a financial audit. To qualify, entities must file timely financial reports using generally accepted accounting principles and produce a Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. In addition, the audit must be free of findings for recovery, material weaknesses, significant deficiencies, or questioned costs, and the management letter must contain no concerns related to financial practices or compliance.
North Royalton City Schools met all criteria required for this recognition, demonstrating excellence in financial reporting and operations.
Treasurer Biagio Sidoti and his team were formally recognized for this achievement at the May Board of Education meeting.
