North Royalton Middle School celebrated a new group of student leaders during its annual Honor Society Induction Ceremony on September 29. The NRMS Honor Society recognizes students who demonstrate the values of “The Bear Way”: Be Mindful, Embrace Kindness, Act with Integrity and Respond with Resilience.
NRMS Principal Jasminne Wessel welcomed students and families to the ceremony. The program also included an overview of Honor Society criteria by Cathy Drescher, teacher and Honor Society committee member; remarks from North Royalton High School Honor Society President Izabella Cengic and Vice President Camryn Sibits; certification of requirements by Assistant Principal Brian Gergely; and the presentation of awards by teachers and Honor Society committee members Denise Romanchok and Meredith Stanton.
As part of the induction, the new members recited the NRMS Honor Society Pledge, which was written by former members Rachel Pavelich, Diya Patel and Nolan Pearce. Through the pledge, students commit to representing their school to the best of their ability, leading their peers, serving as positive examples for younger students and showing respect to teachers, classmates and adults.
“Our Honor Society students represent so much of what we hope to develop in every North Royalton student,” said NRMS Principal Jasminne Wessel. “They are strong learners and leaders who show kindness, integrity and respect for others. Those qualities connect directly to our Portrait of a Bear and the future-ready skills we want our students to carry with them beyond the classroom.”
