A Bear Update

October 15, 2026

Dear North Royalton City Schools Community,

As the first quarter of the school year winds down, I continue to be impressed by the many ways our students demonstrate our Portrait of a Bear. Whether in the classroom, on the athletic field, through the arts, or in service to others, our students are developing future-ready skills that will serve them well, long after graduation.

Congratulations to Pranav Mandava, who recently earned a perfect composite score of 36 on the ACT. To put this phenomenal milestone into perspective, roughly one-quarter of one percent of all test-takers nationwide reach this top score.  Additionally, North Royalton High School senior Patrick Mansbery, made history on October 5 at the OHSAA District Golf Tournament. Patrick shot an impressive 74 at Pine Hills Golf Course, becoming the first boys golf team member in approximately 20 years to qualify for the state tournament, either individually or as part of a team. He went on to represent North Royalton High School at the state tournament where he tied for 18th. Congratulations to both Pranav and Patrick on these outstanding accomplishments!

Throughout this edition of A Bear Update, you will find links to many more stories about students who are demonstrating the competencies in our Portrait of a Bear: Adaptability, Communication, Critical Thinking, Empathy, Leadership and Learner’s Mindset. Some are stepping forward to help others, some are taking on new challenges, and others are setting an example through their everyday actions. I encourage you to take a few minutes to read about their experiences and celebrate their accomplishments.

As we look ahead, I also want to share a few important reminders with our families and community. Although we are still enjoying the fall season, winter weather will be here before we know it. When severe weather or other circumstances require us to close school, our goal is to make and communicate that decision as early as possible, ideally before buses begin their morning routes at 6:05 a.m. However, weather conditions can change quickly, and we appreciate your patience when decisions must be made closer to the start of the school day. Families will receive an automated phone call and email when school is canceled. Notifications also will be shared through our district mobile app, website and official social media accounts.  Please download the North Royalton City Schools app if you have not done so already.

Finally, I want to remind everyone that Tuesday, November 3, is Election Day. Please remember to vote.

Thank you for your continued support of North Royalton City Schools. Our schools are strongest when students, staff, families and community members work together, and I am grateful for the pride and commitment our community shows each day.

Go Bears!
