Six North Royalton High School seniors have been named Commended Students in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program, recognizing them among the nation’s highest-performing students.
The students are Morgan Holet, Tudor Marin, Jacob Mazanek, Prisha Pramod, Hailey Shaw and Chloe Yoon.
The recognition follows last week’s announcement that three additional NRHS seniors (Peter Horrigan, Charles Lupica and Henry Steel) were named National Merit Semifinalists.
Approximately 50,000 students nationwide receive recognition through the National Merit Scholarship Program each year based on their performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). Of those students, approximately 34,000 are named Commended Students. Although Commended Students do not continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships, they receive Letters of Commendation in recognition of their outstanding academic promise.
“We are incredibly proud of Morgan, Tudor, Jacob, Prisha, Hailey and Chloe for earning this national recognition,” said Principal Kristin Hubbell. “Their achievement reflects the hard work, dedication and commitment they have demonstrated throughout their high school careers. It is exciting to see so many of our students recognized through the National Merit Scholarship Program, and we congratulate each of them on this well-deserved honor.”
The National Merit Scholarship Program was established in 1955 to recognize academically talented students and encourage the pursuit of educational excellence.
