North Royalton Students Explore Careers in Carpentry at Union Open House

Students from North Royalton City Schools recently had the opportunity to explore careers in the skilled trades during an open house hosted by the Central Midwest Regional Council of Carpenters.

During the visit, students toured a state-of-the-art training facility, learned about apprenticeship programs and gained a better understanding of the education and hands-on training required to pursue a career in carpentry.

Students also connected with instructors, union representatives and current apprentices, who shared their experiences and provided insight into the many career opportunities available within the industry. The visit gave students a firsthand look at how apprenticeships combine classroom instruction with practical, on-the-job experience to prepare individuals for successful careers.

The experience encouraged students to think about their interests, ask questions and consider career pathways they may not have previously explored. It also provided an opportunity to practice the curiosity, adaptability and Learner’s Mindset emphasized in North Royalton City Schools’ Portrait of a Bear.

North Royalton City Schools thanks the Central Midwest Regional Council of Carpenters for welcoming students and providing this valuable career exploration experience. Special thanks also to Jill Larson, career specialist with Cuyahoga Valley Career Center, for helping connect students with opportunities to explore their futures.
