North Royalton High School Welcomes 73 New Members Into National Honor Society

North Royalton High School celebrated academic achievement, leadership, service and character during its annual National Honor Society (NHS) Induction Ceremony on October 21 at the Dan Calabrese Center for the Performing Arts. The ceremony welcomed 73 new members into the school's NHS chapter, recognizing students who have demonstrated a commitment to excellence both inside and outside the classroom.

The National Honor Society recognizes students who exemplify four pillars: Scholarship, Leadership, Service and Character. Membership honors academic achievement while encouraging students to serve their school and community, demonstrate integrity and lead by example.

NHS President Izabella Cengic welcomed attendees, led the Pledge of Allegiance and introduced returning members. Vice President Camryn Sibits introduced guest speaker Stackie Leatherman, North Royalton High School English teacher and department chair, who addressed the students and their families.

A special part of the ceremony focused on the four pillars of the National Honor Society. NHS officers Morgan Holet, parliamentarian, spoke about Leadership; Alaina Kovach, treasurer, addressed Service; Prisha Pramod, secretary, discussed Scholarship; and Stefanie Tsybulya, historian, reflected on Character. The traditional candle-lighting ceremony symbolized the importance of these principles and the responsibility members share in upholding them.

Cengic introduced the new inductees, and North Royalton High School Principal Kristin Hubbell led students in the National Honor Society pledge. Through the pledge, students committed to maintaining high standards of scholarship, leadership, service and character while remaining loyal to their school.

The 73 new inductees included 21 students from the Class of 2027 and 52 students from the Class of 2028. They joined 37 returning members from the Class of 2027.

The ceremony also reflected the Leadership and Learner's Mindset competencies of North Royalton City Schools' Portrait of a Bear, which encourages students to take initiative, demonstrate responsibility and remain committed to personal growth and learning.

The National Honor Society chapter is advised by Tonia Gregoire. Following the ceremony, students and families gathered for a dessert reception provided by the North Royalton High School PTA.
