North Royalton Middle School (NRMS) Mario Kart Esports team won the 2026 Ohio Esports Club Championship last night! With the victory, the team has now gone two full years without losing a match, earning back-to-back State Championships.
The Bears faced a tough challenge from Brecksville, who also entered the match undefeated. After the teams split the first two matches of the evening, the championship came down to a deciding match. The Bears and Bees traded points through the first three heats, with NRMS holding a narrow one-point lead heading into the final heat. In a thrilling finish, the Bears held on to secure the championship.
Coach Don Filips is extremely proud of the team’s dedication, camaraderie, resilience, and teamwork throughout the season. These are outstanding qualities that will serve them well in esports and beyond.
