North Royalton Middle School (NRMS) students and staff came together for the second annual NR Bears Care fundraising event, a day dedicated to having fun while helping families in need throughout the North Royalton community.
Throughout the school day, each grade level spent an hour at the stadium participating in a variety of activities, including inflatable slides, an obstacle course, a soccer shootout, axe throwing, and football toss.
Students also had the chance to purchase opportunities to send some familiar faces into the dunk tank, with teachers, staff members, and administrators volunteering to take the plunge. Concessions were also available for purchase.
While there was no cost for students to participate in the day’s activities, families were invited to make an optional donation. More than $7,000 was raised and will benefit the NRMS Student Council Kindness Fund, which assists local families in need throughout the school year.
The event combined school spirit, generosity, and service, allowing students to see firsthand how their school community can come together to help others.
NR Bears Care also reflected the district’s mission to inspire and empower every learner to become future-ready by encouraging students to practice empathy, one of the six competencies in North Royalton City Schools’ Portrait of a Bear.
“The second annual event was a fun and meaningful way for NRMS students and staff to show that NR Bears truly care,” said Principal Jasminne Wessel.
